NewAir 250 Count Electric Cigar Humidor Review
Anyone who’s serious about their collection knows the panic of a dry spell or a humid summer day. It’s not just about storage; it’s about protecting the investment and the rich, complex flavors we chase in every single stick.

I’ve been running the Newair 250 Count Electric Cigar Humidor for a few weeks, and I gotta be real: it’s a total game-changer. The integration with Boveda packs means humidity is totally “set it and forget it,” and the temperature control is rock-solid. It easily swallowed up my entire collection with room to spare. The Spanish cedar drawers feel incredible and slide like butter. Plus, it just looks fantastic sitting in my office—setup was a breeze, too.
This Newair 840 Count unit makes managing your stash almost too easy. Having advanced, active climate control that you can literally dial in with a single finger is the kind of peace of mind I’ve been looking for.
This isn’t just an appliance; it’s a piece of furniture. The Peek-In Spanish cedar drawers combined with the soft LED lighting make it a proper display case for your best sticks, not just a cooler. It’s built for serious collectors. Let’s dig into the details.

Newair Humidpr Review
The Newair 250 Count Electric Cigar Humidor is, hands down, a premium storage solution. The construction feels solid, and the three dedicated Boveda pack holders are perfectly placed for even humidity. You get that precise digital temperature control (I dialed mine to 68°F).
What I really love is the pegging system for organization; you can customize the layout for different vitolas, and the included dividers are great for separating boxes from your singles. The recessed handle on top is a small, smart touch that makes opening the door feel smooth. It’s the perfect blend of high-tech features and classic humidor utility.
- Precise 52–74°F temperature control
- Humidity-friendly thermoelectric cooling
- Spanish cedar shelves enhance aging
- Locking glass door adds security
- Hygrometer accuracy varies
- Capacity overstated for large cigars
Packaging of Newair 250 Count Electric Cigar Humidor
This thing arrived in a monster of a cardboard box. I was a bit worried, but when I opened it, the humidor was completely bulletproofed in thick foam panels. The design is pretty clever—the bottom of the box is separate, so you just snip the locking straps, lift the main box shell straight up, and the unit is left sitting on the base, wrapped in its foam armor.
I inspected every angle, and my unit was absolutely flawless. Not a single scuff, scratch, or imperfection.
After sliding off the foam, my buddy Reid helped me lift it into place (it’s got heft!). From there, you just open the door, pull out the manual, keys, and hardware bag, and peel off the bits of tape holding the drawers in place. That’s it.

Set up of Newair 250 Count Electric Cigar Humidor
The shelves are all in, so the only “assembly” is screwing on the handle and plugging it in. Dead simple.
Attaching the handle took maybe 60 seconds. You just pull back the door’s rubber gasket on the inside, which reveals two screw holes. Pop the screws through, and you’re done.

Seasoning of Newair 250 Count Electric Cigar Humidor
Because this is a Newair electric humidor unit, it’s advertised as ready-to-use. You don’t have to season it, which is a huge plus.
But I’m old-school. Just in case, I decided to do a light seasoning anyway. I grabbed a small bowl and some purified water.
Quick tip: always, always use distilled or purified water, never tap. Tap water has minerals and gunk that can clog the wood’s pores or, even worse, introduce a moldy, off-taste to your cigars.
I took a new, clean microfiber cloth and got it damp in the water. Then, I carefully wiped down every single bit of exposed Spanish cedar—the shelves, the drawers, the walls. You’re not trying to soak the wood; you just want to apply a thin, visible layer of moisture.
This part was made so much easier because the drawers in this NewAir unit slide out completely. It let me get into all the back corners of the shelves without being a contortionist.
Once everything was wiped, I closed the door and just left it alone for a full 24 hours to stabilize.

Exterior of Newair Electric Cigar Humidor
NewAir seems to have really optimized the build; the walls are insulated well but don’t feel overly bulky, giving you more space inside. It has a clean, black finish that looks sharp and professional. It definitely feels like a premium appliance.
Interior
The inside is where it really shines. The drawers are beautifully made, and that aroma when you open the door… pure Spanish cedar. It just feels more high-end than some of their older models I’ve seen.
They used a rolling slide system for the drawers, and it’s fantastic. It makes accessing your collection feel smooth and effortless.
I absolutely love that the drawers extend all the way out. You can finally get to those sticks you tucked in the very back without having to pull everything else out first.
The slides also have just the right amount of friction. It gives them a “soft close” feel and means they don’t slam or slide around when you’re just browsing for the perfect smoke.
Newair Electric Cigar Humidor Capacity
Okay, this is the unit’s superstar feature. The amount of cigars you can pack into this thing is just wild.
It’s a big boy. It feels significantly deeper and taller than my old humidor, but the crazy part is that the external footprint on the floor didn’t really change that much.
Humidification System
The partnership with Boveda is the key. It has three designated holders for Boveda packs, which ensures total humidity coverage, even in my dry winter apartment.

Adjusting the Humidifier
Honestly, there isn’t much to “adjust.” Calibrating this unit is a no-brainer.
The control panel at the top gives you a constant, clear readout of the internal temperature and humidity.
You just tap the “Mode” button and use the up and down arrows to set your ideal temperature. The unit does the rest.
There are only three other buttons: one for power, one to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius (which my friend Wesley in Canada would appreciate), and one for the interior LED light.
That’s literally all there is to it.
This 840-count humidor uses its heating and cooling system in tandem with the Boveda-driven humidity to create a perfect, stable environment for your cigars.
Temperature Setting
It absolutely has temperature control, and the interior light is a nice, soft white.
With a unit this large, maintaining a consistent temp from top to bottom can be tough. But the Newair does an amazing job, especially with temperature.
I set my unit to 65 degrees and aimed for 69% humidity using the Boveda packs.
I used a couple of my own calibrated sensors—a Boveda Butler and a Xikar hygrometer—to double-check its performance over a five-day test.
No matter where I put the sensors (top shelf, bottom drawer), I got a rock-solid temperature reading between 64 and 66 degrees.

That’s seriously impressive, considering the heat kicked on and off in my house, making the room temp swing from 65 up to 74 degrees during that time.
The compressor cooling and built-in heater (what they call Opti-Temp) completely take the guesswork out of it.
The thermostat is adjustable from 54 to 72 degrees, and the beefy door seal and double-paned glass mean the outside world stays outside.
Your cigars are going to be perfectly kept, whether it’s the dead of winter or the middle of a summer heatwave.
Last Words
I’m honestly thrilled with the NewAir NCH840. The Boveda integration is just so smart. It works perfectly, and while it’s a simple solution (holders for packs), it’s incredibly effective. Just make sure you have the right number of packs for the humidity level you want.
The temperature control is unshakable.
Temp stability was a complaint I had with some much older electric humidors I’ve tried, and this Newair has completely solved it.
And the storage space… it’s just awesome.
I also have to talk about the flexible layout. That bottom drawer is huge—I tossed three full boxes of Padrons in there, no problem. The sliding shelves are deep and wide, letting me line up dozens of loose sticks on each one.
At the end of the day, I’m happy. And I can tell my cigars are happy, too.
